Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic is sending shockwaves through communities and economies, public servants have risen to the novel policy challenges in uncharted waters. This crisis comes on top of considerable turmoil for services recent decades, with management reforms followed by global financial (GFC) leading change sector employment relations a deprivileging servants. research adopts lens ‘public service bargain’ examine effects across Australian services. How did jurisdictions approach 2020, senior other cohorts employees? this response compare each jurisdictions’ GFC decade earlier? also reflects more broadly impact what extent responses altered concepts diminished bargain or notion governments as model employers?
